Direct Marketing Policy

BIM PANGURIPAN: Journal on Society, Civilization, and Human Empowerment conducts communication and promotional activities in a responsible, transparent, and non-intrusive manner.

1. Purpose

Direct marketing activities may be used to inform researchers, authors, reviewers, practitioners, community organizations, and other relevant audiences about:

  • Calls for papers;

  • New issues;

  • Journal announcements;

  • Editorial updates;

  • Special issues;

  • Academic events;

  • Community engagement initiatives;

  • Changes to journal policies.

2. Appropriate and Targeted Communication

Marketing communication should be relevant to the recipient and appropriate to the journal's academic and community-service mission.

The journal will avoid excessive, repetitive, misleading, or indiscriminate communication.

3. Accuracy

Information distributed through direct marketing must be accurate and must not make misleading claims concerning:

  • Journal indexing;

  • Impact or ranking;

  • Publication guarantees;

  • Peer review;

  • Acceptance rates;

  • Publication timelines;

  • Editorial board membership;

  • Fees;

  • Institutional affiliations.

4. No Guaranteed Acceptance

Marketing communication must not suggest that payment, sponsorship, personal relationships, or other non-editorial factors can guarantee manuscript acceptance.

5. Email Communication

Where email communication is used, the journal should use appropriate institutional or official journal addresses where possible.

Recipients should not be subjected to excessive or irrelevant solicitation.

6. Privacy

Contact information obtained through legitimate journal activities should be handled responsibly and should not be sold or improperly transferred to unrelated third parties.

7. Solicitation of Manuscripts

Calls for papers and invitations to submit manuscripts should provide truthful information about the journal, its scope, manuscript requirements, peer-review process, publication schedule, and applicable fees.

8. Third-Party Marketing

If external service providers are used for legitimate communication activities, they should be expected to follow applicable privacy, data protection, and communication requirements.

9. Editorial Independence

Marketing activities must remain separate from editorial decisions.

Direct marketing must never be used to pressure editors, reviewers, or authors to produce a particular editorial outcome.

10. Responsible Communication

The journal aims to maintain professional relationships with its academic and community stakeholders by ensuring that communication is informative, relevant, transparent, and respectful.

These principles are consistent with DOAJ guidance that direct marketing should be appropriate, well targeted, unobtrusive, and truthful.
