Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has created significant opportunities for individuals to engage in entrepreneurial activities through digital platforms. However, children living in orphanages often have limited access to digital literacy and entrepreneurship education, which hinders their ability to utilize these opportunities effectively. This study aims to enhance digital marketing literacy and entrepreneurial skills among children at Panti Asuhan Pendidikan KH. M. Manshur (YAPPA) Putri. The program involved 27 participants from Grade 7 to Grade 12, consisting of 14 female and 13 male participants. The community service activity was implemented through a mentoring-based and experiential learning approach, including theoretical explanation, interactive discussions, guided business idea development, and individual idea presentations (mini pitching). A quasi-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test approach was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. The results indicate a significant improvement across all indicators, with an average increase of +2.17. The highest improvement was observed in the ability to generate business ideas (+2.3), followed by digital marketing understanding (+2.2), while business concept understanding and presentation confidence improved by +2.1. Beyond improving learning outcomes, the program also facilitated participants’ ability to develop simple business ideas, such as food products, handmade crafts, and hijab reselling, and to simulate basic digital marketing strategies. In addition, the program provided benefits for the partner institution by equipping participants with practical entrepreneurial skills, increasing their confidence, and supporting their readiness for future economic independence. These findings demonstrate that mentoring-based and experiential learning approaches are effective in improving digital marketing literacy and entrepreneurial competencies while also creating meaningful community service impacts for orphanage-based youth development.
